Lee Alexander McQueen to be honoured at BFA

The British Fashion Council (BFC) is delighted to announce that Lee Alexander McQueen will receive a posthumous award at this year’s British Fashion Awards (BFA) on Tuesday 7th December for Outstanding Achievement in Fashion Design. This special award celebrates the achievement of a designer whose work has had an exceptional impact on global fashion.

Four time winner of British Fashion Designers of the Year award, Lee Alexander McQueen received the award for Outstanding Achievement in Fashion Design in recognition for his extraordinary career. Revered globally for his fabulous tailoring, exciting, innovative and outrageous style on and off the runway, McQueen will be remembered as the most innovative and influential fashion designer of his generation.

To commemorate Lee’s life and celebrate this award the ceremony will open with a film featuring Lee’s most iconic pieces directed by Nick Knight, styled by Edward Enninful and soundtrack by Bjork. The film will feature iconic pieces from Lee's career from the Alexander McQueen archive.

British Fashion Council Chairman bags CBE medal

 
Harold Tillman, Chairman of the British Fashion Council (BFC) has been bestowed the honour of Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) by the Princess Royal at Buckingham Palace. Tillman was appointed CBE in the 2010 Birthday Honours list for his services to the fashion industry.

 

Harold Tillman comments: ‘It is a real honour to be recognised in this way. The UK is home to some of the world's leading fashion brand and I am proud to be associated with a number of them through the British Fashion Council and directly with Jaeger and Aquascutum. I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to acquire these two wonderful British businesses with true heritage and be part of their revival.’

Harold Tillman, throughout a career spanning four decades, has established himself as an entrepreneur across fashion, retail and leisure and an ambassador and champion of British fashion. Tillman has revitalised a number of British businesses, currently owns and Chairs British heritage brands Jaeger and Aquascutum and was appointed Chairman of the British Fashion Council in 2008.

During his tenure at the BFC, Tillman has strengthened London Fashion Week’s reputation as a global showcase for British fashion designs talent, and is credited with bringing Antonio Berardi, Burberry Prorsum, Jonathan Saunders, Matthew Williamson and Pringle of Scotland back to the London catwalk. As part of the BFC’s 25th anniversary celebrations he launched the BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund to assist talented British designers.

Designer Anya Hindmarch joins British Fashion Council


The British Fashion Council (BFC) announces that Anya Hindmarch has joined the BFC as a non-executive director with immediate effect.

Anya Hindmarch joins Harold Tillman, Chairman; Caroline Rush, CEO; Simon Ward, COO; and Chris Inman, Treasurer on the board.

Anya Hindmarch, set up her eponymous label at the age of 19 and now has 54 stores around the globe. The label is also stocked in the world’s leading department stores product like Tops, Skirts, Dress and boutiques including Corso Como in Milan, Dover Street Market in London, Colette in Paris, Net-a-Porter.com, Isetan in Japan and Saks and Scoop in the US. She takes over the role from Hilary Riva who announced that she was stepping down from the position earlier this month after five years at the BFC.
