100 Models will be chosen at Dec 11 for Project 2011

Forget the runway show and the catwalk. Say goodbye to fashion shows in which clothing is presented completely out of the context in which it was meant to be worn. Fashion Designers Bijou Champagne has a new vision, and he has created Project 2011 a two-week-long Beauty and Fashion Extravaganza to bring it to fruition.

“When a designer creates a garment,” explains Bijou, “it is meant to evoke a particular emotion in the wearer and the onlooker. Our vision is to showcase fashion in a setting that reflects this. How and where should the clothing be worn? How should it affect the community? How will a woman feel when she puts that item on? Project 2011 event will present fashions in context, in scenes meant to portray the emotion and relevance of the designs.”

Imagine, for example, a stage set with a detailed summer party scene, complete with swimming pool, barbecue and patio furniture. Models enter in swim suits and summer clothing, interacting with each other as though they’re enjoying a social event. Later in the day new props are brought out, and the scene turns into a cruise ship deck, where formally attired models are arriving for a dinner dance.

Various techniques will be used to add to the realism of the scenes, such as wind blowing, water falls, clouds, bright day, dark skies and more. Creative sound effects will be designed for each scene, to further enhance the visual impact and atmosphere created. All sound used during the show will be performed live (no DJs).

Tropical travels & Mayan culture inspire Gomez for Spring

New York fashion designer  debuted her CHABELLA label by launching her first women’s ready-to-wear collection titled Paradiso, with a presentation sponsored by Grand Marnier at Le Cirque in New York City to showcase the Spring/Summer 2011 line.

“I am excited to show my first collection in New York City, which is not only one of the biggest fashion capitals of the world, but is also a city full of culture and different personalities. I consider New York my home, and it has always been a dream of mine to present here,” said Gomez.

With the label geared towards modern women who love fashion, CHABELLA offers high-end, ultra feminine, tailored and contemporary ready-to-wear for women of all ages. The line consists of day wear and cocktail dresses, as well as separates and one of a kind hand-crafted fashion accessories.

The Spring 2011 collection, aptly titled Paradiso, is inspired by tropical travels and the Mayan culture mixed with the free spirit of Spring. The line beautifully blends colors, with naturally bold oranges and pinks, subdued by calming grays and whites. Each piece is paired with costume belts to accentuate the figure and bracelets to complete any look. "Paradiso represents the beginning of a new season. A woman who returns from a tropical vacation feeling so inspired by the scenery and different culture that she incorporates that into her wardrobe,” said Gomez, adding, “It’s designed for the fashion-lover who’s not afraid of color and mixing old and new silhouettes.”

Bridal collection by Pragya & Megha Samor

With the wedding season here again, the label “Pragya & Megha Samor” has unveiled a complete range of Bridal collection which covers all aspects of an Indian Wedding wardrobe for the bride from mehendi, sangeet, various pujas & of course the wedding & the reception.

“An Indian wedding is full of traditions that are as diverse as the country of India itself. The traditional customs of Indian bride start well before the wedding and ends after the bride reaches her new home. So keeping in mind the journey of the beautiful Indian bride from daughter to daughter-in-law our label designed the latest bridal/festive collection” says Megha Samor.

The collection features an exquisite range of Indian sarees & lehengas featuring a great deal of Bandhani work on a vibrant hues- magentas, emerald green, turquoise blue, ochre yellow, orange, maroon, deep plum, black, red etc. along with a few metallic shades with golden & silver tint.

The most unique part of the collection is the intricate and rare bandhani work which the Fashion designers have gotten done using the methods introduced in the ancient times by our royal ancestors of using a tiny speck of “rye” to tie the bandhani instead of the thick “chana dal” thereby converting the usual Indian craftsmanship into an exquisite piece of art. Also each garment is a complicated baroque of fragile hand embroidery, which is an ornate of traditional Indian embroideries along with modern contemporary designs.
